This piece brings to light the profound interconnection between the physical and spiritual worlds, as conceived in Yoruba traditions. The young woman depicted serves as a living bridge between Àiyé (Earth) and Òrun (Heaven), symbolizing the duality of human existence. Her spiritual guides and amulets represent the protection and strength of the Orishas, who guide her journey between these two realms.
The “Tani É,” a spiritual protector resting on her shoulder, ensures the continuous connection between the visible and the invisible. It embodies the spiritual bond that shields the young woman as she navigates earthly challenges while staying connected to the divine forces of Òrun. Its presence symbolizes the harmonious fusion between the present and the eternal, protection and strength.
